Loveland Planning Commission Gives Thumbs Down to Sixth Street Rezoning Plan

Months of research, organization, and outreach paid off for Loveland's West End neighborhood residents on Monday, when the city Planning Commission voted against a proposal to rezone four properties near Hillcrest Assisted Living. By a vote of 5-2, the commission sided with opponents of the plan, who argued that the change would disturb the "quaint" character of their close-knit neighborhood and set a precedent for future upzoning in the city's other residential areas. The vote was met with cheers and applause from the dozens of West End residents who packed the Loveland City Council chambers for the meeting, a crowd Commissioner Sarah McKeen called "eye-opening."
